The recent placement of District Communication Representatives will advance the NECT’s efforts to effectively communicate to stakeholders at a regional level.
The National Education Collaboration Trust (NECT) has officially employed eight District Communication Representatives (DCRs) in eight districts including Vhembe, Waterberg, Bojanala, Bohlabela, Mt Frere, Libode, uThungulu and Pinetown, through a partnership with the ETDP SETA.
The placement of these DCRs is critically important to the success of the NECT, for as much as it is important to communicate on a national basis to funders and key stakeholders, it is equally important that there is consistent communication at a district level to relevant local stakeholders.
The DCRs’ responsibility will be to implement all district communications, for example writing articles (in English and local languages), meeting regularly with relevant stakeholders, attending district meetings, visiting projects and reporting on them, liaising with local media and managing the NECT database at a district level, amongst other things.
The DCRs attended an orientation week from 3 August to 7 August at the NECT Head Office in Centurion, where they received training on various skills. They commenced work in their districts within the second week in August.
